Microsoft Teams and the Cookie monster
At our company we recently started using Office 365 with it, Microsoft Teams.
Overall it’s easy to use and it is providing great features.
However, we also use this combination at one of our customers. And with that came a small annoyance regarding the Teams.
Once logged in on a Teams page it saves a cookie to make sure you will be re-directed to the correct team next time you connect.
But if you want to swap teams (From customer to own for example) it is seemingly impossible to go to the other team.
The solution is pretty simple but saves a lot of annoyance.
To resolve this, we want to make sure we don’t save any cookies from teams.microsoft.com.
First thing we need to do is make some changes in the settings from Google Chrome.
Open Chrome and go to settings.
Next press “Advanced Settings” on the bottom of the page.
In the advanced settings there is “Content Settings”
In this menu there are multiple options to Allow, Block and Clear on Exit, obviously we want the last one.
On the right side click “Add” and fill in “Teams.microsoft.com”
Now, after you restart Google Chrome you can reach every Team site you want.
It will remember your past login information so you don’t need to put in your credentials every time you visit the website
Next up – Internet Explorer:
Open Internet Explorer and go to “Settings” – “ Internet Options”
Next go to “Privacy” and “Sites”
Fill in “teams.microsoft.com” and choose “Block”
After this, restart the browser and now you freely roam between different teams ![]()
